Collection: Setsuko Collection by Astier de Villatte
The Setsuko Collection by Astier de Villatte brings the poetic imagination of artist Setsuko Klossowska de Rola to a distinctive series of sculptural ceramic objects. Modelled by the artist, the collection is intimate, expressive and wonderfully unconventional, transforming familiar forms into objects filled with personality and quiet charm.
Among its most recognizable creations is the beloved smoking cat incense holder, alongside an extraordinary five-branched candelabra and the collection’s distinctive palette-shaped chopping board. Functional objects become sculptures in their own right, reflecting Setsuko’s imaginative approach to the rituals and objects of everyday life.
The pieces are presented in luminous white enamel or beautifully expressive raw clay, sometimes enlivened with subtle touches of colour. These contrasting finishes emphasize the modelling of each form and the tactile character of the ceramic, revealing gestures and details that give the collection its unmistakably handmade presence.
Whimsical yet deeply refined, the Setsuko Collection captures the creative dialogue between artist and atelier. From sculptural incense holders and candlelight to objects for the table and kitchen, each piece invites use while remaining a remarkable decorative object in its own right.
