A Stroll Through Sweet Memory: Williamsburg’s Italian Heartbeat

A Stroll Through Sweet Memory: Williamsburg’s Italian Heartbeat

Before BON TON goods opened its doors in Malmö, our days were shaped by another kind of charm, one found in the quiet rhythms and warm aromas of Williamsburg’s Italian enclave.

Shane and Mikkel lived just a few blocks from the neighborhood’s historic heart, where the cobblestones felt like old friends and every corner seemed to hold the scent of sugar and espresso.

Each morning, the two Brooklyn girls—Dolly and Daisy, our beloved pups, would lead us on slow walks through those familiar streets. We often found ourselves stopping at Fortunato Brothers, a family-run bakery whose glass cases glowed with the bright colors of candied fruits, piped cream, and rows of delicate sfogliatelle. Founded in 1976 by three brothers from Naples, Fortunato’s has long been a local institution, serving generations of New Yorkers with pastries made the old way: lovingly, and by hand.

Further up the block was Lella Alimentari, a small, sunlit café that felt like a slice of Milan tucked away in Brooklyn. There we sipped cappuccinos under café umbrellas and shared crusty panini, lingering longer than we meant to—just as you're meant to do when the setting is right.

Those walks and flavors left a lasting impression, one that continues to shape our love of Italian craftsmanship, color, and conviviality. It’s no coincidence that the playful elegance of Cereria Introna’s wax confections reminds us of those beloved cakes and cookies behind Fortunato’s counter.

Their charm, like those mornings in Brooklyn, stays with us.

Inspired by sweet traditions and joyful details.
