Hematoid Quartz, Two Ways — New Pendants by Mikkel Brøgger

Hematoid Quartz, Two Ways — New Pendants by Mikkel Brøgger

Some stones arrive like a spark. Hematoid Quartz, also called Fire Quartz, carries threads of red and orange hematite suspended in clear quartz, a natural collage of ember tones. Mikkel Brøgger has cut two one-of-a-kind pendants from a single dramatic slab, pairing each with a handmade sterling silver setting and a soft Japanese cotton cord by MOKUBA. Same stone, two cuts—two moods.

The Two Pieces

Cabochon Cut — Soft Glow

A flat slab cabochon that feels serene and strong, emphasizing color and flow rather than facets.

Stone: Hematoid Quartz (approx. 140.07 ct)

Mount: 4-prong, closed back, sterling silver (925)

Pendant size: ~60 × 25 mm (about 2½")

Cord: Japanese cotton by MOKUBA, length: 60 cm / 23.5"

Palette: Orange, yellow, red, black inclusions

Details: One-of-a-kind; handmade in New York City

Vibe: Warm, painterly, luminous—perfect against knitwear or a crisp white shirt.

Faceted Cut — Bright Flicker

A flat slab faceted cut that catches the light—same fire, more flash.

Stone: Hematoid Quartz (approx. 140.07 ct)

Mount: 4-prong, closed back, sterling silver (925)

Pendant size: ~55 × 25 mm (about 2½" tall)

Cord: Japanese cotton by MOKUBA, length: 60 cm / 23.5"

Palette: Orange, yellow, red, black inclusions

Details: One-of-a-kind; handmade in New York City

Vibe: Graphic and modern—plays beautifully with tailoring or an evening slip.

Why Hematoid Quartz

Natural drama: Hematite inclusions sketch abstract patterns—every angle is different.

Day-to-night ease: Sterling silver keeps it versatile; cotton cord adds relaxed elegance.

Collector appeal: Two cuts from the same material—sisters, not twins.

How to Wear

Layer the cabochon over a turtleneck; let the color read as a soft field.

Pair the faceted pendant with a sharp blazer; let the planes throw sparks.

Swap the cord for a silver chain when you want a dressier silhouette.

Care Notes

Wipe gently with a soft cloth. Avoid harsh cleaners and prolonged heat; store pendants separately to protect the surfaces and settings.
