An Exhibition Across the Øresund
Boundary and bridge
For Mikkel Brøgger, the Øresund is both boundary and bridge: a body of water connecting two cities, two countries and centuries of Scandinavian craft tradition.
From 1 to 3 October 2026, BON TON goods presents Across the Sound, a three-day exhibition created as part of The City of Jewellery 2026. The Malmö exhibition is the festival's only presentation outside Copenhagen and its sole presentation in Sweden.
Known in Danish as På Tværs af Øresund, the exhibition responds to the festival's 2026 theme, Transition, or Overgang, through a meditation on place, history, material and craftsmanship.
Gold · Aquamarine · Diamond
Material as landscape
In Across the Sound, yellow gold is treated as a living material: warm, continuous and enduring.
Blue aquamarines evoke the waters of the Øresund, while diamonds and crown-like elements catch and scatter Nordic light. Architectural structure meets organic form, bringing together precision, movement and intimacy.
Handmade through traditional goldsmithing techniques, the works invite a closer encounter with jewellery as sculpture, material history and personal object.
Across the Sound extends Copenhagen's centuries-old goldsmith tradition into Malmö, reflecting the movement of people, ideas and craft between Zealand and Scania.

Copenhagen becomes an exhibition space
Organised by Copenhagen Goldsmiths' Guild, The City of Jewellery is Denmark's festival for jewellery art, goldsmithing and silversmithing.
The 2026 edition brings together more than 30 exhibitions and 235 Danish and international goldsmiths, silversmiths, jewellery artists and designers under the theme Transition.
Across the Sound carries that programme across the Øresund to Malmö, becoming the festival's single presentation outside Copenhagen.
