ABOUT US

About BON TON goods

Founded in 2021, BON TON goods is a curated home for objects made with intention. Located in Malmö’s historic Gamla Staden, moments from Stortorget and St. Peter’s Church, our boutique is designed as a place of discovery, where each object carries a story.

Our collection is shaped by craftsmanship above all else. We work with artisans and heritage houses where the hand of the maker remains visible, where material matters, and where time is understood as part of the process rather than an obstacle to overcome. We choose pieces meant to be used, worn, and woven into daily rituals. Candles should be lit. Plates should be set. Jewelry should be worn.

Elegance, to us, is felt rather than announced. It lives in proportion, balance, and restraint, revealing itself to those who take the time to look closer. We favor objects that grow richer through use, and more meaningful over the years.

Curation is an act of responsibility. Every piece we offer becomes part of someone’s home and daily life. For this reason, we choose carefully, say no often, and stand fully behind what we bring into the world of BON TON goods.

Hospitality is central to how we work. Our shop is not a showroom, but a home. We believe in greeting every guest with warmth, care, and respect, and in offering guidance without pressure. True hospitality creates space for curiosity, conversation, and connection.

We also believe atmosphere is a form of luxury. Fragile and precious, it is shaped by calm, attentiveness, and mutual respect. We curate not only objects, but experiences, and we protect the environment we create with care and intention.

In a world driven by speed and excess, we choose slowness. We believe patience allows for better choices, deeper relationships, and a more meaningful way of living. Integrity guides everything we do, from our partnerships and pricing to the way we tell the stories of the makers we work with.

BON TON goods exists to protect beauty in a noisy world. To honor the handmade. To choose with intention. And to create spaces, both physical and emotional, where thoughtful living can flourish.

What is “Bon Ton”?

The phrase bon ton means good taste, refined manners, and elegant style. In 19th-century high society it described le beau monde, “the beautiful world.” It also carries echoes of bons temps rouler, the French-Cajun expression meaning “let the good times roll.”

We embrace both meanings: one rooted in refinement and discernment, the other in joy, celebration, and spirited living. Read more about the origins of BON TON.

We are also forever inspired by our dear friends at BON TON in Nantucket.
