Collection: Coquillage Collection by Astier de Villatte
The Coquillage Collection by Astier de Villatte looks to the poetry of the sea, transforming shells and marine forms into delicate handmade Parisian ceramics. Sculptural boxes, small dishes and decorative objects become miniature treasures from the shore, at once naturalistic, romantic and unmistakably Astier de Villatte.
The shell-shaped pieces evoke the legendary birth of Venus, the goddess emerging from the sea upon a shell. Rendered in Astier de Villatte’s luminous white glaze, these familiar marine forms take on an ethereal quality, their ridges, curves and softly irregular surfaces capturing the delicate beauty of objects shaped by the ocean.
Both functional and decorative, the Coquillage pieces can hold jewellery, keepsakes and other small treasures, serve as charming dishes, or simply be displayed as sculptural objects. The collection also extends to an elegant shell-shaped incense holder, bringing the same maritime poetry to the ritual of burning incense.
Handmade in Paris, each Coquillage ceramic is stamped with the Astier de Villatte monogram and the initials of the artisan who crafted it. Romantic and wonderfully tactile, the collection captures Astier de Villatte’s ability to transform forms from the natural world into objects that feel like small treasures discovered by the sea.
