Collection: Hortus Collection by Astier de Villatte
The Hortus Collection by Astier de Villatte celebrates the abundance and beauty of the garden through delicately sculpted botanical ceramics. Fruits, leaves and blossoms emerge in relief around the edges of the plates, creating an intricate natural border around Astier de Villatte’s luminous white-glazed surface.
The name Hortus, Latin for “garden,” perfectly suits the collection’s rich botanical character. Rather than relying on colour, the decoration comes alive through modelling, texture, light and shadow, allowing every leaf, fruit and flower to reveal itself across the softly irregular ceramic surface.
From dessert and dinner plates to deeper soup plates, the Astier de Villatte Hortus Collection brings the romance of a garden harvest to the table. The elaborate botanical borders beautifully frame whatever is served upon them, while the monochromatic white glaze allows Hortus to mix effortlessly with simpler Astier de Villatte tableware.
Handmade in Paris, each Hortus piece retains the subtle variations and traces of the artisan’s hand that distinguish Astier de Villatte ceramics. Naturalistic yet wonderfully refined, the collection transforms the fruits, flowers and foliage of the garden into an enduring celebration of nature in clay.
