Three French Heritage Houses Honored by the French State

The prestigious EPV label is one of France’s highest honors for exceptional craftsmanship—and we are proud to represent three maisons that have earned this distinction.

French heritage maisons represented at BON TON goods

At BON TON goods, we are proud to represent three French maisons that have earned one of France’s highest distinctions for craftsmanship: the Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant, or EPV, label.

While the honor itself is not new, it remains one of the clearest expressions of a maker’s commitment to exceptional quality, traditional savoir-faire, and manufacturing in France. It is a distinction that perfectly reflects the values we seek when curating the collections we bring to our clients.

Three of the French maisons we proudly represent— Trudon, Charvet Éditions, and Astier de Villatte— have earned France’s prestigious Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant distinction.

Often described as a recognition of France’s finest living heritage companies, the EPV label is awarded by the French State to companies that preserve exceptional artisanal skills while continuing to manufacture in France. It celebrates makers who invest in passing their knowledge from one generation to the next while maintaining the highest standards of quality and innovation.

What Is the EPV Label?

The Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant, or “Living Heritage Company,” label is one of France’s most respected distinctions. It recognizes companies that demonstrate exceptional craftsmanship, rare technical expertise, and a long-term commitment to preserving French manufacturing traditions.

To receive the designation, companies must preserve rare artisanal knowledge, continue manufacturing in France, demonstrate exceptional craftsmanship and industrial excellence, and invest in passing these skills to future generations.
