Sculpted in Wax, Steeped in History

Trudon’s Iconic Bust Candles: A Tribute to French Heritage and Craft

In a remarkable collaboration with the Réunion des Musées Nationaux – Grand Palais, Trudon reimagines the candle as both artifact and icon. Each wax bust is a sculptural homage to figures and symbols of French history, meticulously crafted using molds from the French National Museum Council’s archives.

These exquisite forms reflect Trudon’s origins as the Manufacture Royale de Cire—the official wax provider to the royal court of Louis XIV. Poured by hand in Trudon’s Normandy atelier, the busts are unscented and richly pigmented, intended not to burn but to be admired, collected, and revered.

From Marie Antoinette’s defiant grace to Napoleon’s imperial gaze, these wax portraits are luminous reminders of France’s cultural legacy—and of Trudon’s enduring place within it.
