Color made into matter
Sylvie Saint André Perrin works with naturally pigmented clays and the historic terre mêlée—or aptware—technique. Different clays are assembled, folded and cut so the marbling belongs to the material itself. It is not painted on, and it can never repeat.
For autumn, we have drawn together three of the atelier’s richest palettes. Brocéliande runs dark green, red and black through the clay; Cachemire folds black, green, red and yellow into dense painterly currents; Sienna brings red ochre, yellow ochre and bronze. Together they feel warm, dark, graphic and alive with the evidence of the hand.

One woven counterpoint
Warmth beside the clay
A single piece of handwoven rattan from MITH CPH brings a quieter rhythm beside the expressive clay. The Medici vase adds structure without pulling focus from the atelier’s colour.

Autumn does not require a complete reinvention. One object with weight, colour and handwork can change the temperature of a table.
