Begun in 2012 and completed thirteen years later, The Mermaid Suite stands as a meditation on devotion, patience, and transformation. Comprising a necklace, ear-pendants, and a ring, each element was formed by hand, every link carefully sawn from thick silver sheet, shaped on a sand wheel, dapped to a convex form, drilled, burnished, and polished to a silken gleam.

The necklace is composed of twenty sculpted stone links, each alive with subtle movement and reflection, while the ear-pendants are suspended from white gold earwires. The ring carries both grey and white diamonds, a quiet constellation of light and shadow. Some links shimmer delicately with tiny grey diamonds, echoing the glint of moonlight on water.

At last, the work found its voice through antique 19th-century Venetian agate briolette drops, luminous stones once cherished for their painterly banding and natural beauty. Their delicate facets capture light like water in motion, recalling the romantic spirit of old Venice and the whisper of tides beneath its bridges.

The Mermaid Suite is created by Mikkel Brøgger, an awarded goldsmith and jewelry designer with over twenty-five years dedicated to the art of craftsmanship. Through his studio, Mikkel Brøgger Jewelry, he explores the dialogue between history, gemmology, and lapidary, shaping pieces that bridge time, material, and emotion.
