A unique Shellman artwork is an eye popping, jaw dropping conversation piece. Attention is guaranteed.
Shellman is actually two shell men – step dad and step son. Mikael Hjärtsjö left a career in advertising and stepson Buster Eriksson made a sharp turn from Apple. For years, fingers had been itching to do tactile stuff and eventually we decided to pursue a new career together, as shell artists. In 2018 we set up the Shellman studio with the intention to create shell art with close attention to details.
Every Shellman piece is unique – no two are alike. The mood of the day and inspiration from nature, science, music, pop culture, or world events can set us off in any direction. It’s often reflected in our naming of a finished piece.
Our shells come from near and far. We collect empty cockles, mussels, clams and other shells from our local shores and we partner with local restaurants to reuse their waste oyster shells. Shells from other waters are abundant or common and we buy only from reliable sources with all necessary papers in order.
