OVERGANG — Across the Sound

A special three-day exhibition by goldsmith Mikkel Brøgger during Smykkernes By 2026.

From Thursday, October 1 through Saturday, October 3, 2026, BON TON goods is pleased to present OVERGANG — Across the Sound, a special exhibition by goldsmith Mikkel Brøgger, created as part of Smykkernes By 2026 (The City of Jewellery) .

Each year, Smykkernes By invites the public to experience the art of goldsmithing up close through exhibitions, studio visits, talks, and events. The 2026 theme, Transition, offers a rich point of departure: the passage between materials, the transformation of metal into form, and the personal and cultural shifts carried through jewellery.

For Mikkel Brøgger, this theme becomes a meditation on place, history, and craftsmanship. From Malmö, across the Øresund, OVERGANG unfolds as an extension of the centuries-old goldsmith tradition centered in Copenhagen. The waters between Zealand and Scania have long been both boundary and bridge, connecting crown, commerce, and craft across the Sound.

In this presentation, yellow gold is treated as a living material: warm, continuous, and enduring. Blue aquamarines evoke the waters of the Øresund itself, while diamond pavé and crown elements catch and scatter the Nordic light. Together, these materials speak to movement, transformation, and the shared history that has shaped both shores.

Presented at BON TON goods in Malmö, the exhibition continues a Nordic goldsmith lineage rooted in Copenhagen while celebrating the relationship between Malmö and the historic center of the guild. It is a passage across Øresund, where gold, sea, and light remain in motion.
