Beyond Copenhagen: A Design Lover’s Guide to Malmö During 3daysofdesign

Every June, Copenhagen becomes one of the most exciting design destinations in the world.

For three days, showrooms, galleries, ateliers, museums, and historic buildings open their doors as part of 3daysofdesign, Denmark’s celebrated festival of creativity, craftsmanship, and contemporary living.

For many visitors, the days are filled with new collections, inspiring exhibitions, thoughtful conversations, and long walks through Copenhagen’s beautiful streets.

But if you find yourself looking for a slower pace, a change of scenery, or simply another perspective on Scandinavian design, there is a destination just across the bridge that is well worth discovering.

Welcome to Malmö.

Only a short train ride from Copenhagen, Malmö offers a different side of Scandinavian design culture. Smaller in scale, perhaps, but no less thoughtful. Here, creativity feels woven into everyday life. Historic architecture stands beside contemporary design, independent makers thrive alongside established names, and craftsmanship remains at the center of the conversation.

At BON TON goods, we have always believed that the most meaningful objects are those made with intention. Objects that carry a story. Objects that reward close attention.

Our collection brings together heritage makers, contemporary artisans, decorative objects, handmade ceramics, fine jewelry, fragrance, textiles, and collected antiques from across Europe and beyond. Many of the values celebrated throughout 3daysofdesign — craftsmanship, materiality, longevity, and beauty in everyday living — are the same values that guide our work every day.

Visitors will discover handmade ceramics from Astier de Villatte and Erik Bendtsen, fragrances and candles from Trudon, textiles from Lisa Corti, one-of-a-kind jewelry by Mikkel Brøgger, antique decorative objects, and a carefully curated collection of pieces chosen for their character and enduring appeal.

Malmö itself rewards exploration. Wander the historic streets around Stortorget and Lilla Torg. Visit the city’s galleries and museums. Enjoy lunch in one of the many cafés that define Malmö’s relaxed rhythm. Then spend an afternoon discovering objects, makers, and stories that may not appear in any festival guide.

The best design journeys often happen beyond the official program.

This week, while Copenhagen celebrates design, we invite you to cross the bridge and experience another side of Scandinavian creativity.

BON TON goods is located in the historic city center of Malmö, just steps from Malmö Central Station and approximately 35 minutes from central Copenhagen.

For those visiting 3daysofdesign, we hope to welcome you during your time in the region.
