New from Astier de Villatte: The October Arrival

The October arrival
Small pleasures. A grand gesture.
The pleasure of an Astier de Villatte arrival is in the range of possibilities. One piece changes the room; another sits quietly beside a cup. A miniature dish can feel just as considered as a vase that asks for a place of its own.
This October, our new selection moves between those scales. Archibald brings height and a sculptural silhouette. Banshaku adds a scalloped vase, a small dish on a stand and a miniature platter. A Paris Faceted Cup joins the John Derian collection, while Mantes-la-Jolie appears in a new everyday form.
Archibald: a place of its own
At 45 cm high and 26.5 cm across, the Archibald Vase is the grand gesture in this arrival. Its raised form gives it presence before anything is placed inside. With stems, it becomes a focal point; empty, its silhouette can hold a corner of the room.
Think of a console with enough space around it, a side table against a darker wall, or the centre of a generous table. White does not disappear in these settings. It catches the light and gives the eye somewhere to rest.
Like the other new ceramics, Archibald is handmade in black terracotta and finished in Astier de Villatte’s luminous white glaze. Subtle irregularities in the forming and glazing belong to the piece, rather than being something to disguise.

Banshaku: the smaller scale
The Banshaku Vase offers a different kind of presence. At 13.4 cm high, with a scalloped rim, it is a piece for a closer view: a few stems by the bedside, a place at a smaller table, or a shelf where its outline can be appreciated.
The Mini Banshaku Dish on Stand gives a little elevation to a familiar form. Just 9.3 cm across, it brings the proportions of a raised dish to a miniature scale. The Mini Banshaku Platter, measuring 10.5 by 8.5 cm, is flatter and quieter—a small surface to arrange among objects you already enjoy.
These pieces need not become a formal matching set. The shared glaze lets you place a single new shape beside an older favourite, or build a small grouping over time.

A Parisian cup, from John Derian
The Paris Faceted Cup is a new addition to Astier de Villatte’s John Derian collection. Its faceted form gives the white surface another rhythm, with light moving across the angles. At 11.5 by 8.5 by 8.5 cm, it is an object to hold and use, as well as one to enjoy on a shelf or writing table.
It shares the hand-formed, hand-glazed character of the collection. The appeal is in the individual piece: its edges, its surface and the way it sits beside the objects around it.
An everyday addition: Mantes-la-Jolie
The new arrival is not only ceramic. Mantes-la-Jolie Hand Wash brings another Astier de Villatte ritual to the bathroom, kitchen or guest room in a 350ml bottle. It is a smaller addition to the collection, with a place in the ordinary rhythm of the day.

Choose the piece that belongs
A new arrival is an invitation to look again at what is already in your home. Perhaps there is room for a taller vase, a smaller shape beside a favourite cup, or a fresh detail at the sink. The point is to choose a piece you will notice and enjoy using.
All six pieces featured here are currently available at BON TON goods in Malmö and online. Quantities are small, particularly for the two vases.
