The Necklace as Poem: On Color, Texture, and Feeling

The Necklace as Poem: On Color, Texture, and Feeling

Jewelry need not shout to be felt. In Mikkel Brøgger’s newest collection of gemstone bead necklaces, it hums.

Each piece is a quiet poem — composed in stone, threaded by hand, and meant to be worn like a second skin.

These necklaces are not just adornment. They are atmospheres, moods, memories. The way a soft wash of rose quartz can invoke calm. The way kyanite — deep and stormy — seems to echo the sea. Each strand is more than material. It is feeling, translated.

Rose & Orange Quartz

A study in tenderness. The muted blush of rose quartz, paired with the warm, sun-baked glow of orange quartz, brings to mind vintage silks and desert blooms. It’s romantic without being sentimental — the kind of necklace you reach for when you want to feel both soft and strong.

Lemon Chrysoprase & Kyanite

Here, the colors deepen. The inky blues of kyanite meets the deep lemony yellow of chrysoprase are grounded by the mint green silk cord. Worn against bare skin or layered over a crisp collar, it reads as calm, composed — with just a trace of wildness.

Angelite & Aquamarine

Cool-toned and contemplative. This pairing feels spiritual, not in any decorative sense, but in its clarity. Angelite carries a pale, almost translucent sky blue; aquamarine hums with soft violet  heat. Strung on with a burgundy silk thread, together, they call to mind early morning light — the kind that suggests possibility.

Each necklace in the collection is strung by hand on silk thread and finished with Mikkel’s sculptural clasp. The stones are ethically sourced, gently polished but rarely faceted — chosen for their shape, their surface, their presence.

In a world of fast adornment, these are pieces to slow down with. To wear as a daily ritual. To keep for a lifetime.
