On May 9, from 12:00 to 15:00, BON TON goods welcomes Tapetorama and its founder, Dan Johansson, for a focused presentation on the enduring language of wallpaper.
Taking place alongside our annual Fête de Jardin, this moment brings together garden, interior, and surface, with a curated selection of historical papers spanning nearly two centuries.
The Work of Tapetorama
Tapetorama has built a reputation for its deep knowledge of historical wallpaper, working with original designs from the late 18th century through the modern period. Under the direction of Dan Johansson, the studio has become a point of reference for collectors, designers, and those drawn to interiors shaped by history.
The collection spans from approximately 1780 to 1970, tracing shifts in taste, production, and ornament. From early block-printed patterns to mid-century compositions, each paper carries the marks of its time.
Original Papers and Reproductions
For this presentation, a selection of original antique wallpapers will be shown alongside reproduction installations created within the shop. This dual approach allows the work to be understood not only as archival material, but as something that can still function within a contemporary interior.
The presence of original papers, many of which are rarely seen outside of private collections or specialist archives, offers a close view of material, scale, and color that is difficult to replicate.
